Eedris Abdulkareem, also known as Idris Abdul-Kareem, is a Nigerian rapper, songwriter, and performer. He was born on March 2, 1974, in Kaduna, Nigeria.
Eedris Abdulkareem began his music career in the 1990s and rose to fame in the early 2000s with his hit song "Mr. Lecturer," which addressed the issue of sexual harassment in Nigerian universities. The song became an instant hit and won several awards, including the Song of the Year award at the 2003 edition of the Nigerian Music Awards (NMA).
Eedris Abdulkareem's music style is a fusion of hip-hop, afrobeat, and traditional African rhythms. He is known for his socially conscious lyrics, which address various issues affecting Nigerian society, including corruption, poverty, and political injustice. Some of his popular songs include "Jaga Jaga," "Nigeria, My Beloved Country," and "Blood in the Gutter."
He has collaborated with several artists, both in Nigeria and internationally, including Ruggedman, Femi Kuti, and 2face Idibia.
Aside from music, Eedris Abdulkareem is also involved in politics and was a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) political party in Nigeria. He contested for a seat in the House of Representatives in the 2019 Nigerian general elections but was not successful in his bid.
